Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement
Richard Lang & Son Ltd – Financial Year Ending 31 December 2024

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and confirms our commitment to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and servitude within our operations and supply chains.

1. Organisation Structure & Supply Chains
Richard Lang & Son Ltd is a family-run importer and wholesaler of gifts and homewares, founded in 1949 and based in Derby. We operate predominantly in the UK, sourcing products from international factories and local suppliers, and supply goods to retailers and distributors across the UK (richardlang.co.uk, makeuk.org).

2. Policies & Governance
We uphold zero tolerance for modern slavery. Our policy applies to all employees, suppliers, contractors, and business partners. The statement is approved annually by our senior management and Board, with the Managing Director holding ultimate responsibility for compliance.

3. Due Diligence & Risk Management
We conduct supplier audits and factory visits, having reviewed over 25 manufacturing sites in 2025 to evaluate working conditions, labour rights, and adherence to ethical standards.
We require all new suppliers to declare compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and supply chain transparency, and we include contractual clauses prohibiting forced labour.

4. Risk Assessment
We map our supply chains and identify higher-risk regions and product types. In 2024–25, priority focus areas included packaging material sourcing and third-party factories. Outcomes are reviewed by senior leadership and are used to tailor our audit plans.

5. Key Performance Indicators
✅ Over 25 supplier factory audits completed in H1 2025.
✅ 100% of new supplier agreements include modern slavery commitments.
✅ Annual review of factory audit findings and corrective action plans.

6. Training & Awareness
All procurement and supply chain personnel receive annual training on recognising and responding to indicators of modern slavery. Our policy is included in staff induction, with refresher modules each year.

Continued Commitment

We will:

Maintain and improve our audit processes and supplier engagements;
Update our risk assessment model annually;
Continue to track KPIs and corrective actions;
Review and update this statement within six months of the financial year-end.
